Fayose did not promote any Ekiti worker – APC

The APC dismisses reports that workers in the Ekiti civil service were promoted and paid two months salary in December

- The party accuses Governor Fayose of spreading false reports on the payment of Ekiti workers

- The party says no single promotion letter has been issued from the governor’s office elevating any worker in the state

APC accuses Fayose of spreading false reports on the promotion of workers.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti state has described claims by Governor Ayodele Fayose that he has promoted 15,000 workers in the state civil service as a ruse.

The media had reported that Governor Ayo Fayose had given the approval for the immediate promotion of 15,772 public servants in the spirit of Christmas.

But the APC in a statement by its state publicity secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, dismissed both reports as a ruse, saying that no single worker has received any letter of promotion and that no bonus had been paid the workers as at the time of writing the press release, Vanguard reports.

“At best, what the governor has done is a promise of promotion to the Labour leaders he assembled at the dilapidated Ikogosi Resort where he begged them to help him mobilise workers to vote for his candidate in the 2018 governorship election with the promise of mass promotion for workers.

“The promise followed similar other one during his governorship campaigns when he asked Ekiti youths to submit their credentials to his campaign office for immediate mass employment if they voted for him.

“But after winning the election, the credentials of the youth found their way to groundnut and roasted plantain sellers, and up till now, none of them has been employed," Olatunbosun said.

The party spokesperson said investigations from Ekiti State Civil Service revealed that no single promotion letter had been issued from the office elevating any worker.

The APC accused the governor spreading false reports that he had paid two months salaries of workers to confuse and deceive the people.

It claimed what Fayose did was to pay just one salary for two different months.

"For instance, he paid December salary to a set of workers while he paid July salary to another set, making it just one month salary to all the workers so far paid, but the governor has been fraudulently claiming that he had paid two months salaries,” the party said.

Meanwhile, the Fayose has reacted to the recent news about the Nigerian army smashing the last enclave of Boko Haram terrorists in Sambisa forest doubting its truthfulness and describing it as a trick to diver the attention of people from the fact of a ravaging hunger countrywide.
