Lagos-bound train crashes into trailer in Kaduna

A train carrying soldiers and civilians from Kano to Lagos has crashed into a trailer in Kaduna resulting in the vehicle to cut into two.
NAN reports that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) revealed that the incident happened on Wednesday, December 28 around 3 am.
Mr Francis Udoma who is the sector commander of FRSC in the state said no life was lost and blamed the crash on the driver of the trailer for insisting on crossing the rail even when the train was close.
He said it resulted in heavy traffic that lasted six hours.
“We deployed our men, including myself, when we received the call, and arrived there to manage the traffic jam for hours.
“We were there until 9 a.m. before we were able to open the road for motorists to pass through.”
He said the driver of trailer might be suffering from ear problem as the train gave a loud noise to warn vehicles.
“It could be that the driver had problem hearing, because train normally will blare, but this driver, even with the horn decided to cross.
“This is abnormal. Nobody with normal hearing sense would take such a risk.”
He advised drivers suffering from ear defects to get aids when using the road.
